Content, Once King, Becomes A Pauper

Until very recently, the prevailing wisdom among analysts who covered the media industry was that "content is king."

This is because having a web site with good content doesn't mean that you will be ranked for the popular key words.

While searching in the major search engines for most popular keywords, you will find this "These terms only appear in links pointing to this page".

This is because the content is not king.

If you want your site to compete for the major key words you need links coming to your site. More pages you have on your site the better it is. Each page is another link back to your home page. But even if your site has 1,000 pages you still need links from other sites.

But there is more to it then just getting links. You also have to have your key words in the link. For example href="http://www.whizes.com">web site design</a>. This would give me the key word web site design. This would count just like it was on my page.

There is still more. While the pr of the page your getting links from the higher the pr the better take links from them all. However you do need to make sure that there are no more then 20 links on the page that is giving you the link. More then this and Google may see it as a link farm and your site and theirs could get penalized if you linked back.

So you ask, why can't I just add it in the text on my page. It is a lot easier to just put the key word in the text 20 or 30 times write a page with a 1,000 words of text on it and I'm done.

The reason this will not work is because I can get 10,000 links to my site for that same key word, but there is no way you can use the word 10,000 times on one page.

Do not get me wrong text helps. Say I have 10,000 links coming to my site you have 10,000 links coming to your site now we can put your page against mine. My point is that because there is no limit to how many links you can have coming into your site and there are limits on everything else. You can not compete with links if you are only using text.
